I finally asked my boss for a raise and got it. After watching us raise all my subordinates pay; I simply said with the current market, I don't feel my salary is competitive anymore. There wasn't even any pushback.

Maybe it's time for top execs and CEOs to scale back pay.

I think it is very questionable to attribute bottom line profits solely to the CEO.

In our hypothetical only I can make a deal to get aluminium for half cost or something. Many such situations happen. Executive level business is all about relationships and connections in a way most wage slaves have trouble comprehending.
