How bad can it be if people are making YouTube videos with their faces and all, and I don't have any connections to real militant groups? What can they do to someone just saying words?

If they make professional videos and have lots of followers there's a good chance they are controlled opposition, and their message is approved.

They likely have us on a list. It's a big list, thousands or even millions of people. They can't go after us for our speech due to constitutional protections. However, they have other ways of attacking us. They can flag us for IRS audits. They can put us on no-fly lists. They can share these lists with law enforcement. You are now a 'bad person'. Cop sees you driving using their license plate scanner? They find a reason to pull you over. And these lists will eventually become public. And once that happens you'll have trouble getting a job, or might get fired from your existing one. Businesses will refuse to do business with you on that basis. It's not that they don't want your money, it's that associating with you might get them on the list as well. And all that bad stuff you said online? It might 'accidentally' get leaked by 'hackers', attached to your real name.

The people safely on YouTube are like the public face of resistance to entice others to react. Probably controlled actors.
