SIDS was shown to have a brain stem component from autopsy of children who died of sids. Something to do with ability to detect and respond to high CO2 content in breathing. I’m not sure why they don’t explain that to young parents- my guess is they allow fear to help amp up their concern to prevent deaths- but ultimately it appears to be a brain deformity that causes SIDS deaths, and there’s not much a parent could do to prevent it other than try to prevent the high CO2 event- which leads us all to ask the question about how our baby is sleeping or what is inside the crib. If this was the problem, there would be many more deaths of children than there are- we’d be losing them left and right. It’s sad because new parents are already freaked about how to properly hold or feed their gift from God- and they now have to try and sleep with the wonder of night-time child death in the next room. I wish more doctors would explain that they did find a physical brain deformity that was behind SIDS.
Just like shaken baby syndrome. The shake isn’t a simple shake- it’s literally vigorous head back and forth whip-lash shaking. It’s very clear if you see a video of it- but every parent is worried about a little bouncing to help their child calm down while trying to get them to sleep.
My best and prayers to all new poal parents! God bless you all!
Yeah you give em a lil bounce to simulate walking, makes them want to sleep so that you can journey/escape without alerting every predator for 10 fucking miles.
I remember hearing rumors that SIDS was a cover up for deaths caused by babies inhaling toxic flame retardant chemicals emanating from their mattresses for hours and hours a day.
Or logically speaking SIDS is the mother killing the baby in its sleep. The simplest answer is the correct one
While some women may be getting away with murder, SIDS is real and was significantly reduced after awareness campaigns:
