If you think of the most celebrated historic black people, they are all known as being civil rights leaders or someone that helped black people-- Rosa Parks, MLK, Harriet Tubman, Nelson Mandela.

I'm curious if there are any historic black people known for advancements for all people, such as inventing penicillin, automobile.

To be fair, there are some black musicians who created innovative recordings. They were usually managed and produced by jewish record executives. That would include junkie John Coltrane, junkie Miles Davis, druggie Jimmy Hendrix, Chuck Berry, BB King.
