You are shooting on your property and your neighbor shows up brandishing a pistol telling you not to shoot anymore because he is worried you might shoot his house. He is totally wrong, but you want to be respectful, but he still showed up on your property flashing a pistol. What do you do?

Explain where and how I am shooting. Show that that poses no problems for him. Ask him to join in.

Demand he stops tresspassing in my.most cop voice. If he refused, and I was armed. I would now be in low ready.

Exactly he trespassed then threatened a man on his own property using a weapon. Fuck that guy.

Your story changed. Because your story is inconsistent regarding the sequence of his brandishing the gun, I suspect you were shooting in an unsafe manner. Regardless, it was not wise of your neighbor to approach you.

Just because I did not notice it immediately does not change that he had the pistol with him the whole time. He showed he had it when I told him "okay, I won't shoot here anymore, now get off my property".

Where I was shooting was RIDICULOUSLY safe.

Then you've got a big problem that your neighbor thinks he can access your property without permission wherever and whenever he wants. Make a police report for documentation. Perhaps have him tresspassed. He brought a gun because he thought he might need to shoot you.

Depends on where you live. I don't shoot alone so if someone decided to come brandish while my brother and I were practicing, they'd get shot if they refused to stop brandishing.

If he decided to leave, I'd call the cops.

I called them after he left. I am hoarse from screaming at him.

Brandishing is at least a misdemeanor in most states.

Brandishing, flashing. Depends. What do you mean?

He asked me not to shoot where I was. I respectfully agreed, then he showed his pistol he had had behind his back.

If you have the correct backstop and its legal to shoot there, then sure call the sheriff and have him come out and look.

I might point out the range safety to start. If there is any doubt, make the range safer. Better for you all around. Then, tell him to get off your property. Put up some purple markers/ no trespass signs.
