There's a labor shortage right now thougbit depends on the sector. That might give you negotiating leverage. If they had to hire him at 5k more than you, then your replacement will likely cost as much, and will take some time to train.

Not really. Employers do this crap all the time. Shit on their current employees and offer newbies all of the perks.
Of course. If they are already paying you X to do the job and you are happy to do it for X, then why would they pay you Y out of their own initiative?
Not in my experience. If you are bringing someone on at a superior wage and have not already exhausted options for having existing staff training a subordinate at a much lower wage then that indicates whoever is currently in the position is on the way out.
