Say I'm shilling for exxon mobil, should I be buying my petrol at an Exxon or Mobil gas station? And what if I want to buy some snake oil additives, like upper cylinder lubricant, Mobil doesn't make one, so I have to buy Lucas making me feel guilty. Maybe I don't need to buy any cause this stuff already gots it? Anyway I'm sure the gasoline comes from the same pump, delivered with the same truck network, so maybe it doesn't matter? Oh well, my car engine ain't explode so I guess I'll keep using it.

Anyway, back to the original question, Exxon or Mobil? Or just whichever one is closest?

Lucasoil and Marvel Mystery Oil do work, it's not 'snake oil', ask any mechanic.

I'm a big fan of upper cylinder lubricant. I am also a mechanic.

Lucas makes good shit, their greases are top notch. 👌

Timing chain guides gettin uppity? Lucasoil will calm em down.

The new oil service specification actually has additives to prevent timing chain wear. However no, I have no issues with my chain guides. I have a special timing chain tensioner and it always has adequate hydraulic pressure. Even if the VTEC solenoid leaks, or if my piston oil jets get stuck open, I'll have proper pressure at the chain guide.
