In a real fight, you may want to avoid fighting with a closed fist. It is easy to break fingers and it is not as efficient as hitting with the bottom of your wrist. (One thing about the bottom of your wrist is...that it fits nicely inside the eye socket)
In a real fight, every hit is welcome...but especially the sensitive parts ...you guessed it...neck.
If the Karate chop is used by the bottom of the wrist (its not) to the neck, it should be effective.
Moving forward, lets talk a bit about the Chinese.
Emperor Chin was able to unite the Kingdom of China with his soldiers. These guys were so furious....they did not stop to eat. They simply ate the necks of their horses as they rode into battle.
Clearly...this is bullshit.
And you need to realise how the Chinese have been consistently full of shit since the beginning of their history. This is because lying, is part of their culture. They literally wrote a book about it called...The Art of War.
These martial arts are ALL bullshit.
Bruce Lee is an actor...just as every Chinese martial artist. These guys would not last a second in MMA or a Box match...
Matter of fact...the Asians have absolutely zero memorable martial artists.

That's what bas rutten recommends, he actually broke his hand with a punch, for the little story. At the same time I would say, stick to the devil you know. Some are kind of gifted with the fist, it comes good naturally, and they have strong bones. While some aren't, I think. Ideally, you strike with anything but your body, you use your body as last resort. I think that's a good rule of thumb in terms of "non-ritual" combat. Because clinched fist comes for what I call ritual combat. It's not exactly a war stuff, while at the same time a KO is a KO, mission accomplished lol
