I live in a pretty decent neighborhood and don’t want any trouble with the neighbors, but the problem is the next door neighbors have a completely fenced off yard yet they leave the gate open at night and their dog is allowed to roam free. It usually sneaks and takes a shit in the yard which I have dealt with all year, however now it has gone too far and shit right on top of some garlic that is almost ready for harvest. I work 3rd shift so I can stalk the yard and catch the bastard in the act if I need to. What would you guys recommend?

What sort of fucking psychopath kills a domesticated animal because of a minor inconvenience rather than addressing the issue in a civilized manner? Ask the neighbors to keep their dog contained? And if they won't, call animal control, shoot the dog, or flush your coolant.

If the owners don't contain the dog, he can shoot it imo. I wouldn't kill the dog myself, but wouldn't care if he did. I'd shoot it with a non lethal air rifle.
