I live in a pretty decent neighborhood and don’t want any trouble with the neighbors, but the problem is the next door neighbors have a completely fenced off yard yet they leave the gate open at night and their dog is allowed to roam free. It usually sneaks and takes a shit in the yard which I have dealt with all year, however now it has gone too far and shit right on top of some garlic that is almost ready for harvest. I work 3rd shift so I can stalk the yard and catch the bastard in the act if I need to. What would you guys recommend?

Talk to the neighbors. Put up your own fence. Get a motion sensor that turns on the sprinkler. low power pellet/bb gun (injuring it could cause the cops to get involved).

Getting a motion activated sprinkler is a great suggestion. I bought one, and it keeps the nuisance animals mostly out of my yard so that I can actually grow grass. As an added bonus, it really pisses off solicitors.
