Wife was watching the local news last night and I heard them say that everyone needs to get the shot because its safe and effective. I wonder what their liability is if someone heard that, went out and got the shot, and then had a major issue that required hospitalization.

You can sue for any reason. Your case will be summarily dismissed because the local news station has freedom of speech, which includes the freedom to lie.

Freedom to lie about certain things. Generally speaking anyone who knowingly tells a lie that will result in injury or death are liable. They can lie about the holocaust, the election and call Trump orange Hitler as much as they want, but they can't tell you it's safe to let a cobra bite you.

they can't tell you it's safe to let a cobra bite you.

Yes they can. Find a Supreme Court case that says otherwise.

You can sue for anything, even if you are completely fucking wrong or have zero prof. SO, YES

You probably can, you will lose because they don't have to tell the truth.

Many set themselves up as entertainment. So there is no news truth to adhere to. Also the Obamanation signed a law making them more immune to lawsuits.

Sure, you can sue.

But you will lose because they have freedom of speech and freedom of the press.

No media outlet is required by any law to tell you the truth about anything.
