Because whenever an Israeli asset (read - intelligence gathering spy) dies it becomes imperative Israel regains said data (cell phones, lap tops, computers etc) before the actual authorities stumble onto their illegal spy practices. They did the same thing during the Christchurch earthquake of 2009 or 2011,that squashed a van belonging to 'a group of three or four Israeli backpackers' , an israeli search and rescue team was sent to 'volunteer help' but got caught sneaking them into the cordoned off central city red zone early morning the very first fcking night they arrived by armed military patrols - trying to retrieve the backpackers laptop and personal possessions. Iirc they got btfo and sent back to israel but not before managing to take the stuff with them after 'high level diplomatic talks' lol.
