I've used mint on the HPs since they are extremely user friendly for my less than tech savy family members.
I had debian on the yoga for a bit, but I didn't use it for anything besides web browsing and a bit of youtube.
Yeah I usually stick to Ubuntu. Some computers are supposedly better for Linux than others for whatever compatibility reason, but for the most part it's been pretty straightforward so far.
I run Linux on nearly everything. Despite the stigma of Ubuntu, anything Debian-->Ubuntu--> is usually stable and decent.
Sometimes I read about issues with dedicated graphics cards.
Most likely I'm getting a T480 with integrated graphics. I don't think I need the T495 and the T480 is supposedly more user serviceable and with much better battery life.
