Anyone managed to escape the rat race? I'm trapped, would love to get out but haven't got the capital or connections to make it out atm. Anyone who always lived in the city manage it?

Winner winner right here. Find a nice farm or something in a more free state. Enjoy good people, raise food and animals, worry about rat race less.

Unfortunately you have to worry about actual rat, mice, tree rats, trash pandas and all other manner of critter. I love it though.

That’s all part of it. Better than having your car broken into and crackheads stealing your gutters for scrap value..,

Also, I’ve never locked my car and only the house a few times when we went on trips.

It's like having kids; if you wait until you can afford it, it will never happen. You just got to go for it. The sooner you cut your losses and move the better.

I took some of my profits from crypto and I bought a property in the most remote and affordable place I could find.

Are you alone?

If so, sell what you don't need, pack what you do and simply move.

Whatever city you land in will be looking for workers, I guarantee it.

Until then, apply for the basics of life, get off the assistance when you can.

Get out of the city. Do your research, find smalltown USA.

Never move into a city. 150-180k max. Then live 20 miles from it. No planes, trains, or automobiles. Just fat cows farting and skeeterz buzzin

The is the best policy. Don't live in a city, but live just outside a large town. That way, you have easy access to everything you need, but your neighbors are not likely to be drugged out gang members.

Yes, easy, sell everything never look back. Much cheaper to live in rural areas, and many jobs available cause lazy people are soaking up unemployment right now. Don't pick a state that touches the ocean.

We got the hell out by selling our home and 90% of our personal belongings, took the revenue and bought a truck and a 5th wheel. Now we spend our time in a different area about every 3 months. It's an awesome lifestyle.

Note... We are retired although we meet a lot of younger people that actually manage to work from their RV's. Some have 2/3 kids. Everyone that we meet that is full time RV'ing would never go back to their old lifestyle.

Small steps. Try finding work in medium-size cities where its common to have urban centers close by rural communities. In this day, its easier due to remote work and may give you some leeway to switch it off.

This is an underappreciated piece of advice. For some people leaving the city is like quitting smoking cold turkey. You can often get better results easing your way out.

Buy a place in a rural area, work for a farmer, rent an old farmhouse.

Look for a job in the area you want to live. It's pretty much that easy.
