Everywhere I look, the prices are absolute insanity. I mean, yes, they are expensive and if you're lucky you can get crumbs from the kike manipulation of the markets. If you're unlucky, you essentially have a very expensive, down under mortgage. But recently, the housing prices come off as slavery. These clearly 250,000 housing units are being sold for 500 or more, and its like how the fuck does anyone afford this stuff?

My dad mad $17k a year with his first job. A 3 BR house was $30k.

My friend who is 30 makes $30k/yr. He can't find a better job, they just don't exist. Starter houses are $500k.

There is definitely an economic element.

Sorry 30k a year and you choose to live in a area with 500k homes. You need to move. You would have better jobs also. Your economic element is not choosing to move.

That's fucking ridiculous, it's time to move somewhere more rural. Or better yet, pay a property owner a monthly fee to park your tiny home on their land and tie into their utilities. Pay it off, upgrade, then repeat. If you start with a $500k home you're paying out the ass nothing but interest to the bank. With the tiny home you can actually build equity, then snowball it larger and larger. Hell, even living in an RV is a better deal. Baby steps and sacrifice.

The days of playing by the rules of the system are over. It doesn't work anymore. Gotta operate outside of it and be creative.

Your father would have put down 20% of the purchase price and been stuck with a 15% interest rate. If we do the mortgage math we find your dad would have spent 25% of his take home pay on a house.

Your friend might not be destined for home ownership. If he could use an 80/20 loan to catch the good rates then he would be spending about half his income on a 300,000 house.

I agree the system is rigged, but once you see the marionette strings it becomes navigable.

What we should find more interesting is that your dad supported a wife/kids on 17k/year.

Nope, my parents saved for 2 yrs and bought a house outright.

My dad even bought a new corvette with what he made from a summer job in college.

30k is at the poverty line. Better jobs certainly exist. If not where he's at, he can move to where the jobs are, or create his own. Shoot, where I live you can make a killing washing windows. Cheap cost of entry for a business, and the money is good.
