All the comments already have most factors covered. There's one more though. Family networks and community keep most degeneracy in check through social pressure. In rural and some suburban areas, you can't really escape your reputation, so most people go with the flow of traditional life, which has largely evolved to be beneficial. In a big city though, with hundreds of thousands of inhabitants, you're constantly meeting strangers with no reputation outside of what you might read on a resume, so there's no effective social pressure outside of organized groups (colleges, corporations, fag cabals, Marxist groups, etc). This is a big reason why "discrimination" was outlawed in the US, so that social clubs can't legally do anything pro-white, only anti-white.
