What about “hearing” a human voice. (ie music, or podcasts) I once spent 30 days at sea by myself, never talked to anyone, but monitored HF and listened to music, podcasts, and watched movies, but never spoke to another human.

That sounds really nice tbh.

I once spent 30 days at sea by myself,

Wow! What kind of boat?

You get it.

No music, nothing? Not sure. I usually do about 45 minutes without noise in the morning. Only the cats are up when I get up. I don’t speak out loud. Th chickens and goats let me know they see me. If I’m headed to work, stuff is playing when I get in the truck. If my wife comes home, the silence abruptly ends. I look forward to when the grid goes down. But I have a piano and lots of other instruments.

Trips me out how many people are so freaked out by their own thoughts they can't handle silence. Always have to have some kind of noise blasting their brains.

No more than 4 or 5 minutes, not counting sleep. Wife and kids, man.

I don't have the luxury to get that much alone time. For me, the longest is probably 12 hours, 8 of that is being asleep?

haha, you sound like my son.

[–] 1 pt

You don't talk to your son for weeks?

years, text though and get him to make crypto wallets. This is 2021 ya know?

20 minutes. I've gone in the past days in my old apartment stoned on long weekends not even answering the door, they always wanted something back then, bad friends as I know now.

you need to spend more time alone.

That's what I think many days, it's like I just want to not think not talk just reflect on my past thoughts and actions to see where I fucked up.

thats a dangerous path my friend.

We live pretty far off the highway but not far from town. No neighbors close enough to see or hear. Until 2 years ago spouse worked full time plus. 9 hrs a day. I was alone 75 plus hours a week, sometime for several weeks at a time Then spouse was the only person I interacted with most of the time. I did have internet and listened to news, real news- not that fake MSM shit.

I went to town twice a month to shop and errands. Spouse wasn’t particularly interested in returning to town after work.

I never thought I’d like being a hermit but the more I did it, the more I liked it.

Assuming you qualify as a human. You know cats can use computers, right?

No shit? My dog needs to step up.

Dogs are not as intelligent as cats.

shut up.

Weeks at a time is no problem. My record is probably in the months but they blur together and I never kept track.

Recently maybe/10 hours when out in the woods. Maybe a couple days when solo camping as a kid

Maybe a few days to a week in solitary as a troubled youth.

you never got over it did you?

It really did a lot of good I think. It happened more than once. Turns out I’ve been able to live alone, work alone, be alone, for months on end. I don’t do that now, but there were periods in my life where I did all of it together at once, and it was only possible from that experience growing up.

OK last sentence was kinda sketchy Im not sure I have enough time tonite.
