I'm wondering the same thing, living in the Chicago suburbs. It was always a liberal area, but it has been next level the last year with the rona. Plus it looks like Chicago is on the verge of imploding, so who knows what will happen to the nicer areas outside of it. Unless I hear good evidence otherwise, I'm probably moving somewhere 30-50 mi outside of Austin, Texas in the next 2 years. My job and hobbies are tech related so it would be nice to have that moderately close, but at the same time far enough away where the cost of land drops a bit. Plus it would be a longer term goal to build a nice house on the land and have something to pass down to my future children.
