Anyone know a good security camera system.l? I bought one on Amazon. Blink. I want motion detection but the problem is it requires a monthly subscription to record the videos. It’s bullshit and I want one I don’t have to pay. I know someone who has blink and they don’t have to pay a monthly and anyways I was wondering if anyone knew another camera. Just a single camera for an apartment

I saw online they have hidden cameras in clothes hook things. It’s pretty creepy. Mines not hidden though

UniFi makes some, they also sell recorder hardware, but you can also use your own.

I use Reolink. Their cloud is free for one camera, just the subscription needs renewal every month. But that's just a 5 mouse click affair.

Arlo Ultra 2 - problem solved. Pop in a microSD into the base station and remove cloud/subscription dependency. Includes 180 degree view, motion, nightvision, and comms.

There are Reolink cameras that have micro sd cards built into them and work on wifi, no paid storage needed. I have three that I have set up on the Reolink app and they work great. Sensitivity and other options are customizable, you can get emails or notifications instantly when cameras are triggered, and you can view live feeds or recordings remotely from anywhere. I have all 3 connected to the solar panels and those work great and stay at 100% charge with just some sun. Nighttime/low light images are great, too. Got them used on ebay for pretty cheap and dont have to pay another cent. I've been very happy with them.

I like Ubiquiti. They have a lot of good gear for both camera's and networking.

I have installed them for businesses as well as for my own home.

It will depend on how large of a system you would like to install but it can get expensive. However, nearly all of their cam's can record at 1080p+ .

You can go with a NVR (basically the recording storage and management software) or go with the Dream Machine Pro which can also function as your router, security gateway, vpn endping etc...

The software for the Ubiquiti camera system was built somewhat by the guy that manages the opensource "ZoneMinder" project that I have used in the past (and I would now if I didnt have the DMP as my camera recording system).

Also, One of the best parts of the system is that you can make it local-only if you want so it wont connect to any Cloud BS and all of your video is stored locally. That is how my system is currently setup.

I have the same system. You should have a central unit that sits in your house that bridges the cameras to your WiFi.

Buy a $20 128gb flash drive and plug it into the central unit, then set it up to save to the flash drive. No subscription needed and you can access it remotely any time.

China makes all sorts of cheap ones but the Google/Amazon/Blink stuff is usually proprietary and locked down...

A guy I work with has blink. That’s why I got it. Then when I set it up it said I need to pay a monthly subscription to actually record, but it said for cloud storage. So I asked him.l if has pays a monthly. He said no. So I didn’t bother cause I got plenty of memory n shit: well when the free trial ran out i find out that I DO need to pay. Bullshit. I got plenty of storage on my phone. Should have returned this shit now it’s too late.

i don't have Blink, but I have a cheap knock-off that stores locally on an SD card. Maybe the Blink cameras have that as well? Also here is a link to Blink Local Storage
