I have a terminal disease between emphysema, asthma and who know. Before anyone wonders, it's a very rare congenital birth defect, and not caused by smoking, so telling me to quit smoking wont help, since i dont. Anyways, I have been trying to use edibles to increase food intake. I just checked this morning and I have lost 2 pounds since a few weeks ago. I am currently sitting at 6'0 and 140 pounds. I do workout and hike a lot, usually every day, and I eat small meals here and there, and the occasional biscuit. But nothing seems to be kicking up my weight, so now I'm at a loss on what to do. I've gotten skinny enough that most people i know have tried force feeding me food, but even that doesn't do much.

This is why you can't put on weight. You are burning calories faster than you are putting them in.

For a healthy person, the formula is simple: eat more calories than your daily need.

Since you’re not typical, you should ask a doctor.

Skipping breakfast can slow your metabolism.

Give yourself enough time to feel hungry between meals to put your body into "starvation mode".

Over-eat during/after dinner.

Drink beer.

Minus the beer, good advice. Alcohol suppresses the immune system.

if you're not losing weight, keep doing what you're doing and then add a protein shake after every meal.

I've heard that weed is unsustainable for appetite purposes because you will build up a tolerance, and after daily use, you run the risk cannabinoid induced hyperemesis, which means you'll require marijuana just to avoid feeling nauseas all the time, which will work against your goal. I've known multiple stoners who developed this condition.

Just tried it for a few weeks, and you are correct. It worked for maybe 2 days, and then my brain's natural apetite suppression overrode the effects of the edibles. End result, i can eat edibles and not eat

Drink a protein shake with every meal.

Become a liberal.

Obviously, it seems from pushing yourself so hard and getting tired, stop this and you will accumulate weight easily. And do not drink coffee, as it helps you lose weight. Have faith that God will heal you.

The problem is interesting, since I essentially have a refeed syndrome im trying to get around. If i eat a normal, standard meal, i will get incredibly sick for the rest of the day, diarhea, nausea. If i dont eat, my body feels natural and healthy. I tried a carnivore diet, and that was awful, since meat is too lean, so my body loved it, but i wasnt getting anything but protein. The end result is that i went from 175 pounds to 140 in around 3 months, which concerned my doctors. They told me to eat a pizza, and I can kind of eat a pizza, but only in limited times and in moderation, to avoid getting sick

Maybe the problem is that smoking doesn't make lose weight, but it prevents you from gaining weight, also don't touch coffee, or cigarettes, nor marijuana or any other drug, and don't exercise too much, with that you will gain weight quickly.

I dont smoke, and only tried edibles to see if that would do anything, it didnt sadly

Have you tried various antinausea meds? And as someone said, try eating higher calorie foods. Nuts, cheese, fatty beef. Whatever feels light to you but actually has a lot of calories. White bread?

Ignore all other answers and let me skip to the truth:

Insulin. Any means of keeping insulin elevated will result in weight gain and eventually symptoms for pre-diabetes.

Skipping breakfast does not slow your metabolism. Calories are irrelevant.

The best way to prevent and fight cancer is fasting. I suggest taking electrolytes.

Your advice to this dangerously underweight individual is to fast?

OP did not mention cancer so disregard last line.

I was also wondering about insulin. If he ate something like a cookie 30min before each meal it would promote energy storage to fat. Or if he just ate a cookie every hour or something.

For OP, he sounds really active, but not really into any kind of activities that build mass. Based on how you live it's hard to get a lot of mass.

OP also sounds like he's really conditioned to small portion sizes, his stomach isn't keen with stretching too much. When volume isn't an option with food intake, you need to look for density. Fat is the best, so any butter, oil, animal fats,... Is good to try, if it sits well, soak everything you eat in butter or bacon grease, or whatever you like.

Lipids do not create an insulin response. For weight gain, I would suggest fructose. But I think the weight loss is a symptom of the disease and do not see much point in alleviating the symptom.

An insulin spike with a cookie every hour would help keep insulin from falling to a fasted state but I think we are doing more harm than good in this effort.

Drink the calories. This is where many diets fail. 2l of coke a day will cover your calorie needs. Milk, hot chocolate, sweetened tea, booze. 1oz of liquor is something like 140 calories. Since you're terminal becoming and alcoholic and having a well balanced diet aren't really things you need to worry about.
