I will add that people like to say the Irish couldn't have ever been a desert people because their fair skin burns too easily. However there is plenty of evidence of people in those regions using red powder as sunscreen. The powder is iron oxide which is still used in sunscreen today.

This is correct. It's believed red iron oxide was used. It's why red was commonly associated with the aryan and many ancient blue eyed statues were painted red.
