The correct etiquette when this happens is to reach with your other hand, grasp their wrist, pull them into your hand and reapply the handshake. Done in a friendly manner. Sometimes they have a hurt hand so if there's pain on the face just let it happen.
That identifies you as an outsider. Try applying pressure between first and second knuckle with your thumb. Let me know if they assassinate you.
...Or, you grip firmly with the thumb, ring, and pinkie while repeatedly curling the middle up the inside of their palm in a come hither gesture. That usually sets everyone at ease.
That is my secret to crushing the job interviews. I think it works well for me because my sweaty palms reduce the abrasion that my fingertip would otherwise cause making it a smooth and delightful digital experience. Make sure to bite your nails down to the quick just before the meeting. If you are not blessed with sweaty palms the residual saliva helps.
