Snopes says there's nothing to it, so it must be true. I can only guess that the injected substance somehow collects the iron in your blood since the poison wouldn't contain enough iron on it's own to have that effect. Since I'm not a bio scientist, I can only speculate and my answer will probably be wrong. It could be the videos are illusions and not true. YouTube is full of fantastic videos that are misleading. Interesting question.
