Propaganda under communism wasn't intended to be believable. It was actually meant to be so insane as to create totally unthinking, subservient masses while simultaneously getting potential dissidents (critical thinkers) to expose themselves.

If you say "Kim didn't invent farming! He's in his 50s and my family has been farming the same plot of land for 500 years!" you go to the gulag.
