You can't have power without energy, and energy is still traded in dollars, and if the dollar is replaced, you cannot replace the fact that it takes energy to get energy, and petroleum is the easiest most practical, and realistic way to gain energy. You cannot have power without energy first. Power is work over time, work is a function of energy.
Moving goalposts.
You said China likes money more than ego. That's not true. Dollars, energy, work, and your attempt to redefine power as work over time versus the power that comes from mandate and the barrel of a gun, not withstanding.
The Chinese government view their 1 billion desperately empoverished as a "minority". You can't hurt the Chinese government by punishing their poor. They have all the money they need and any bank in the world will turn their yen into dollars to buy energy.
Moving goalposts.
Adding to the conversation, let's discuss.
power that comes from mandate and the barrel of a gun, not withstanding.
How do you make the gun? Hopes and dreams? What gives the gun its power? The energy in the gun powder and primer? The expansion of air drives the bullet into the body of the energy unit known as human.
If your population is weak and poor what power do you really have? You can have all the money and luxury in the world, if your foundation is weak you will crumble along with it.
The Chinese are egomaniacs, but they're not imbeciles, there's some semblance of pragmatism, just like anyone who holds onto power long enough comes to realize. You either strengthen your organization as a whole, or you just kick the can down the road and blame your problems on others.
Can you guess what has been the prevailing strategy?
Also, I'm not inventing anything, the physical measurement of power is work over time. Horsepower/Kw(POWER) = Torque(work) times a constant, divided by time(revolutions per minute).
Work over time = power, it's basic high school stuff, that is how power is measured.
Holy fuck. I didn't say your definition was wrong. That is one definition of "power". I'm saying that it clearly isn't the definition being used when I wrote it. Political power is not work over time.
