Since you obviously have some doubts about the quality of character when it comes to your wife, your best bet is to take the reigns properly, especially before the daughter is born. Once she is old enough to pick up on the dynamic between you too, it better be solid. Few things are more destructive for both girls and boys than to see the father not being in charge, or even whipped around by the mother.
