They're not even that expensive, I think. They sound like a lot of fun, but I have heard stories about how if it sucks, then you're stuck in a shitty situation for a week.

Remember when corona started and there were cruise ships that wouldn't let the people off? That shit was ridiculous. Can you imagine? You're on a ship and 2 people on it got the chink flu so nobody can leave for an undisclosed amount of time. Fuck that.

But anyways, Let's say there is no corona. What company is the best, with the best experience to be had, and the best ships? Would it be perfectly fine to get one of the cheaper cabins and still have a lot of fun, or would it be way more worth the money to get a fancier, more expensive cabin?

It’s worth experiencing but I probably won’t go on another one. Mostly it was eat, drink, eat, drink, check out some entertainment, eat drink some more. All amenities are extra so plan on spending the cost of your ticket again. ‘All inclusive’ is misleading, you’re constantly being tempted with extras. Yeah shopping mall at sea is about right except you can’t leave when you want, so spend more $. I prefer to rent a condo and a car so I can plan my own excursions on my own timeframe. The “cattle” comment is probably pretty accurate.

Yep, not a fan of the big ocean cruises at all. I don't get the appeal. If I wanted to see a foreign country in the Caribbean, I'd just hit up an all-inclusive resort and go on a few tours. I wouldn't do a villa or vacation rental until I knew the area.
