I’d argue that Mao did kill China; he literally changed the written language in order to re-order how people thought about things and how society functioned. And whatever people around here think about Hitler, his legacy has been a Germany that’s so fucking guilty over WWII that they’ve allowed their government to systematically fuck the entire European continent into the third world dirt. So no, in some really important ways, these countries didn’t survive this type of leadership.
