Have you ever helped your Uncle Jack, off his horse? Punctuation, and capitalisation can save more than lives

I was thinking more like the PE teacher and the guidance counselor trying to rap, and be hip, with backwards ball caps, and low slung jeans, with boxers exposed

Would the plural of "mog" (half man, half dog) be "mogs" or "meg"? Does it use the 'e' from "men" or the 'ogs' from "dogs"?

[–] 0 pt

It uses the letter 'r' for fuck you retard.

It's because you can't assume an author's gender.

[–] 3 pts

I'm assuming genders right now and you can't stop me.

Actress' bodies are used as eye candy. They make more people want to see the movies or shows.

Female writers can't use their bodies to gain more readers. So being female brings no advantages.

Just like, . There are no female writers.

Damn I didn't think of it this way and in all honesty I've read a lot of science fiction. Seems like every time it's a woman writer the book is shit or has subtle bullshit I don't like. If it had said written by a woman I'd be much less likely to buy the shit

This was actually done up until the early 19th century, there's even the word “doctrix” for a female doctor. They just fell out of use over time. If we are taking a loan word from a language with gendered nouns, we often retain both the male and female versions.

English, god love it, pisses me off on a daily basis with shit like this.

It has to do with the history of both words. You can use the masculine for a catch all if you do not prefer gendered language. LA LUNA.

"Other gender-specific terms, such as actor and actress, may be replaced by the originally male term; for example, actor used regardless of gender."

Don’t give them any ideas.

Also, why put authors first? misogynist.

Importance.

That made me laugh out loud…. Long day and I needed it. Thanks.

The 1980s called to remind you they are all 'act-tors' now.

I guess because an actress's sex has more to do with her occupation than it would for a female author.

[–] 0 pt

Literally because there was no such thing as a woman author until very recently, in history.

[–] 0 pt

That applies to actors also.

[–] 0 pt

Women were actresses a least 100 years before there was a word for it, as I recall.

[–] 0 pt

The English language has been around for at least a thousand years, as i recall.

vestiges of germanic gendered nouns if I had to guess.
