Here's a trick. Move your head and neck into the "barrier" (the way that hurts the most). Once your head is in position use your hand to hold your head in place and gently try to turn your head in the "free" direction for 3-5 seconds. After that relax for another 3-5 seconds (don't skimp, this is the most important part). Do this 3-5 times and your neck should feel somewhat better. It helps relax the muscles that are in spasm and it's what i do myself for neck pain.

Once i jammed my neck in a mosh pit and at the end of a song i see a fist turning and it just seemed to be the perfect angle to correct the cramp.
