I am seriously thinking of raising quails and use the eggs as food, the quails are too small, they themselves are ineffective as food, although if they stop laying eggs, they will certainly be eaten.

Edit : Very small space, just a few feet, and that I'm allergic to chicken eggs.

I've been thinking about trying pheasant. They may be to much trouble for what you get out of them, but they may not also. Will ask some folks that have raised them.

I've never raised pheasant, but I've cooked/eaten it. I mean: you're basically eating a pigeon. It's alright, but seems like no real bang for your buck. You'd have to eat two of them just to make a decent meal for yourself. Like others have mentioned, you'd be better off with chickens. If they're super easy to raise and don't require much feeding, it might be worth it. Dunno.
