It's just a theory that plays with imagination. Even if its simulation there is nothing can be done to escape it or stop it, except death, that solves problem in simulation and in life. There isnt any sinister way to use it unless you want to start a suicide cult. And for that you dont even need whole simulation story. Just come up with some bullshit god and his religion.
