Once upon a time I was a drug addict. I had gone to Florida for rehab, and was clean for months, and living and working down there. I relapsed one night. I was buying cocaine and the guy had some heroin and gave me a free sample. I tried it, and the next thing I remember is opening my eyes in my truck parked in a parking lot. Away from where I had used the drugs. Next thing I know, I figure without a face, it was blurry and had no distinct features, pulled me out of my car, and I have a few brief moments of recollection where I was taken home in his vehicle. I never told him where I lived, and then I wake up in my bed the next morning. I had no use of my arm. I had fallen asleep in a certain position that had strained all kinds of nerves. I could tell that my arm was asleep right when The figure was pulling me out of my truck, but I thought It was only temporarily asleep like what happens when you lay on it funny. The doctor said they have never seen nerve damage like this except in motorcycle accidents. A part of me thinks that it was not just sleeping in a certain position that messed my arm up that bad. I have no idea how so many nerves in my arm got so messed up just by sleeping in that position. The whole thing is very weird. It took almost a month for me to regain feeling in my arm. They said if I would’ve slept in that position any longer I would’ve probably lost complete use of my arm. The guy who pulled me out is this still the strangest thing to me. It’s a complete mystery. I was so far back in the parking lot, away from all other people and things, there is no way anyone could have known I was there. Also, who’s to say I wasn’t just sleeping? The fact that he immediately just open my door and lifted me out of the truck and brought me home to my bed was the oddest thing to me. It took me hours to try to locate my car the next day. I had a stick shift, and driving without the use of one arm was very hard. I had to prop my useless hand up on the steering wheel while I shifted Just to try to keep the truck going straight. I’ll never forget that night. Been clean for years and years now
