I think we should be more up front with people about its genetic disease. Healthy individuals do not look like it does.

It was effective when people pointed out ~~Greta Thunberg~~ Climate Puppet Child has Fetal Alcohol Syndrome. Would be great to know the disease which causes Lori's goblin-like features.

The innsmouth look is a reference to H. P. Lovecraft's short story "The Shadow Over Innsmouth".

The fish people statement makes sense if you read the story, which I absolutely recommend you do.
