I had a lot of fun trolling Reddit about 18 months ago trying to convince Chinese shills that the average American was a massive supporter of Taiwan’s independence and was looking forward to a bloody conflict over it.
China is stupid, they could make so much money working with TW, instead they rather lose billions over their ego. Oh well, so much for smart Chinese, aren't they supposed to be good at math?
Taiwan is know as the Republic of China because that is where the government of China went in 1949 when they were overthrown by the communists. It is not so much that the CCP has a legal claim on Taiwan, it is quite the opposite. The existence of an independent Taiwan calls into question of the legitimacy of the CCP.
