Lobster historically wasn't expensive and wasn't viewed as a luxury. It used to be really cheap and commonplace to the point people hated the idea of eating lobster. It wasn't until recently when the world, or at least the western world made it a delicacy.

They're expensive now because everyone wants some but there's not as much to go around like there was back when no one wanted them.

They don't eat it because until about a century ago it was considered slave food.

You should stick with tube steak.
