I'm restoring an old steamed-dowel teak table and chairs . I oil soaped it , and am staining with minwax . Should I put clear acrylic over the stain ?

I think I'm just gonna polyurethane finish as suggested on the can of the penetratrating stain . I appreciate your help .

Again , I really appreciate your input I wasnt expctin such impassioned replies. But I had to put screws in this thing and I countersunk and doweled the holes - with poplar . The stain isnt going to take like the teak . It's not gonna be perfect and I have young kids I'm going to daily use it ; it's gonna get more fucked up before I die . But again , thank you.

You're welcome. And thanks for removing the quote, I can get a bit long winded sometimes and put too much information out there. I've doxxed myself more than once.

You’ll ruin your beautiful wood and be very unhappy with the end result.

The parts I've fixed and have already stained look pretty good . I'll share a pic of the chairs tomorrow . The table is still in storage . It's a round table and the chairs fit underneath the top and into the frame like 4 pieces of pie .

That sounds unique. I’d love to see a picture of it.
