- They publicised all the people toeing the line (singing "Don't Look Back In Anger", getting a bee tattoo, etc.) - basically falsifying a community spirit that wasn't really there
- They suppressed the Muslims who were being controversial (justifying it, saying it was due to x y z, etc)
- Had lots of "don't let the haters win"
- The inquiry of the incident tried to pin some blame on an 18 year old security guard who was worried about challenging him due to "looking racist"
Basically all the usual deflection and fake introspection. They could blow up another 100 and everyone would forget about the root cause in 30 days.
