I have seen something sort of similar happen once with a field contaminated with GMO wheat that was not supposed to be there. Would have fucked up the whole region's east asia export market for the year if anything from that field had been allowed to hit the market. My main takeaway was frustration that east Asia has higher standards for grain than we do and anger that the farmers who bitch and moan and want accolades for feeding America are actually sending the bulk of our best products overseas, and at such prices that the domestic market frequently can't afford them.
