If you have never used Linux but want it clean... MX-Linux. I know Manjaro is mentioned; but Manjaro is a rolling release and it eats itself during massive updates similar to Windows 10.

I've been running it for 2 years without an issue. I update every week.
I've had major problems with MX (Debian based) because the packages are ancient.

Manjaro is good; but if he is wanting to get away from "Windows" behavior, rolling release is not the way to go.
