Timothy Treadwell was an affluent failure who couldn't do anything right in life, drank and lounged about on his parents' dime, then found his "calling" with bears and blew their money in that. He was probably schizophrenic as well, but no one talks a about that.
Treadwell was the stereotypical shiftless trust funder ski/surf bum type, for sure. Known a lot of these types over the years, mostly from working the resort boomtowns. I've been told its a recreation and the tape was never allowed to be used in the doc at all, and if it was it was only to let the people making the recreation here it so they could be somewhat accurate.
