You could try to dry it out a bit in the over or something. It may have picked up moisture from the environment.

leave it burn a bit longer, have a larger cherry on it before you let it go and dont close it off from the air. If i close my burner all the way mine goes out every time.
Mine is a box type burner presumably like yours. I think I need to drill some holes in the backside.
That might solve it. I am too lazy to modify a 5$ item and just leave the lid halfway up.
