TBH I think those are bullshit (I had one before on my RO system), the water doesn't really stay long enough to pick up the minerals.
Plus if you think about it you should be getting more than enough minerals from your food anyway, and I don't see how water not having minerals would leech minerals away from your system anyway.

Yea who knows. It was a fairly cheap add on to the system. My town has horrible water. RO is about a necessity if you want to drink it.

Yeah the RO systems themselves are fucking cheap and great, and adding the mineral stage isn't expensive at all like you mention.
