Run cycles of half white vinegar and half water. You can use the same water. Keep doing that until all the calcium and other shit is out of your coffee maker. Then run a few cycles of water and refill with fresh water each time. Then brew a coffee and see if you like it black.

If you can find citric acid crystals and make about a 10% solution using that, I've noticed that it does a better job of removing scale from my espresso maker, and needs fewer rinses before things taste right.
Citric acid is amazing for use in the dishwasher. It removes the white haze from hard water. When I had a dishwasher, I ran citric acid in the main detergent spot, and detergent in the precycle cup. Also run a cup or so to begin with and run a few cycles before doing all this and it will get it clean as new.
I run RO water or distilled in my coffeemaker. It makes a huge difference in the taste.
I heard drinking distilled water steals micro nutrients and minerals from your body. Could be hogwash.
