I have a noise gate that makes it so there's no static when it's just sitting there, but I can still hear it when I talk.

Sometimes there are software options. idk I run a mxl 770 through an ART series tube mp/c project series tube preamp/opto-compressor-limiter/ DI

Mumble often gives me a buzzing background noise unless I check some software settings in the app.

I'm about to roll tubes in both my preamp and amp soon.

I've got VoiceMeeter Banana. Do you know if that has any options?

Check out some youtube vids, there's additional software you can use w/ voicemeter banana to better tune your mics sound and orientation etc.

Grounding issue, try a ground loop isolator

isolate it on a separate breaker.

As in, plug my PC into an outlet on a breaker separate from everything else? It doesn't go from the audio interface to the wall, the audio interface goes USB into my PC.

Make sure everything is properly grounded. Run a wire to your earth ground on the breaker box and loop everything to it mixer,PC,amp... etc.

That's a dynamic mic, not a condenser, which is probably why you're seeing the high noise floor.

That explains why it was like $30. Still better sound quality than a headset mic, at least.

Do some experiments to better characterize the nature of the problem.

Move the mic around. Does it have more in different locations? Does it occur when you're talking or also when it's silent (be sure you disable all noise gating etc.) Is the static correlated with talking or independent, the same regardless of volume of voice? Posting a recording might help people here track it down (wav file).

If it's purely analog, do you have another device you can plug it into? Can you run the device off batteries? If a PC, an external USB capture box might help.
