I read this and thought you must be a former "little bus rider" but then it hit me - American education is so fucked now that tasks that require advanced math/science seem to be magic -- or at minimum, seem impossible to most Americans under age 50.
Earth to moon distance is approximately 10x circumference of earth - it's not that far away. Orbital calculations can easily be accomplished using simple computers + intelligent humans. Combine those with digital timing, rocket science, and a vacuum proof container and it's nowhere near impossible. The technology is easily repeatable, but because almost all aspects of space flight require edge-of-human-endurance combined with edge-of-structural-endurance the danger to humans hasn't decreased with advances in technology.
What's "impossible" is expecting a military-industrial complex poisoned by decades of easy money, or the current open market to take on a task that would not allow cost overrides or provide sufficient stakeholder returns to justify taking it on.
As for the videos, you do understand that satellite communications and cameras existed in the 1960's? And that cameras were built into vantage points within the space capsule as well as carried by astronauts?
