Becoming increasingly clear paying your taxes and obeying the laws of the land means nothing if youre not speaking the right things to the right people in the right clubs. And anyone asking those questions (including myself) arent a part of those clubs.

I've been asking this question for years.

No one has an acceptable answer.

Far as I can tell, we only own something for as long as either they let us or we fight.

Americans don't own their homes, the taxing authority does. They can be kicked out for not paying property taxes. It's really quite scandalous that they put up with it. In Europe it's different, in the UK for example there are zero property taxes buying a home if the home is under £500,000, and zero taxes for selling if it's a purely residential home, not a business or rent property. The main expense when buying or selling is realtor fees which are 1-3% typically. There are council taxes which pay towards similar things as the US property tax, and this is treated like any other tax for which you can be jailed if your debts are significant enough, but if you own your property then it will not be touched.

To maintain the road, fire dept, and local govt. Govt is not all bad. I'm renting a singlewide trailer and my nextdoor neighbor has a rat infestation. The town has started the process of Eminent Domain to kick them out. The neighbors are panicking which led them to start cleaning up their garbage.

Taxes paid for it all. If i killed my neighbor the garbage would still be there AND i would live next to his widow/orphans.

I believe you can dodge this. But only before you sign for the house. It's in the contract when you sign.. but you can search this. I read about this a few years ago. There are legal routes to change the contract that most people don't read through. So you basically agree to pay for things you shouldn't be paying for. It's interesting. I'll look for a link.

Here ya go:

In NSW, the council can sell property for non-payment of rates. You don't pay your rates (council taxes) they can sell your property to recoup their 'loss'.

Do you have the deed to your house and land? or title for deed?

Maybe it might have something to do with keeping all the administrative costs of documentation and then ultimately if someone comes around stepping foot on your property you can call someone like the police to take that person away for tresspassing. Just a thought.

how do you fight back when none of that is happening any more, but the people charged with upholding those things for you still hold you to the rules that state you must pay them or give up your liberty.

i have no issue with paying taxes. i see it as civic duty. when those civic duties performed are rewarded with the benefits that are meant to go with that civic duty
