they kill out of necessity? sometimes moneys tight, and i cant afford to pay for food. but guess what.....i live in a fairly wooded area out of the way. i can always go out and catch animals and prepare them. shocking i know. humans are an apex predator. everything is on the menu. from squirrels and frogs to deers and bears. if its out in the woods and it looks fairly wild. its fair game.

hunting is a skill needed for self-sufficiency. (among gardenry and carpentry to maintain your home) if the world goes to shit and society collapses. you will wish you knew how to hunt. when society collapses their will be no "oh il just go to the grocery store to get food" you will have to go out to the woods (or maybe if theirs no real human prescense the animals will come to the city and you can just get one from your window and field dress it right their in the comfort of your own yard). and fucking track one, or at the very least, hole up in a tree until something walks by that is edible (as i said all animals are food, but id much rather bag a deer than say a squirrel.....it takes like 5 squirrels to even make a decent stew and even then i still need potatoes and shit to put in it to make it filling because squirrels have no meat on them besides organs.). and even then it depends on if you kill it quickly, or if you fucking suck and have to chase the fucking thing down and put it out of its damn misery because your a horrible hunter.
hunting is literally more beneficial than just for meat. the offal in the deer can be ground up and used in fertilizer to grow vegetables and shit. the bones can be boiled and cracked to make broths which then can technically be boiled down, for flavoring other foods. almost nothing goes to waste with good hunters.

Sure, sadists enjoy suffering. No hunter I know enjoys the animal suffering. There's a reason (other than tainted meat) no one aims center mass on a deer. If I gut shot a deer it will die all the same, suffering for hours/days. You aim for the heart so it won't suffer. Hunting is fun, but until you've wounded a deer without killing it, you can't possibly imagine how fucking horrible it feels.
