Have your kid learn Chess, Judo, and Muay Thai. If he is strong, and smart he won't become an SJW. Weakness of the body, and mind creates SJWs.

Chess yes! Get them thinking and problem solving early . There was no FUCKING candyland or that kind of bullshit type games in our house started chess at 3. Started teaching how to read at 2 once they can read you can have free time .feed them good books. PS and this is big......keep them out of public school !!!! Make the changes in your life to accommodate that .

Id argue that judo throws and kicks and punches before having to use BJJ is more safe for you. Once you go to the ground a lot can happen thats not in your favour.

I am the father of a one year old. My son, our first kid, was born on February 29th! That's a leap year day for you yards, in case you didn't know. That has nothing to do with parenting, I just think it's cool.

Now to answer your question. Don't read any books beyond first aid for babies. Just know how to save your kids life if, god forbid, something ever happens. Beyond that your just taking in advice from people you don't know just because it's in a book. Your natural instincts will kick in and you will just know what to do. The most important thing for a boy is spending time with their father. Make sure you do as much with him in your free time as possible. Also anything and every thing your kid looks at or is interested in should be named and the first letter emphasized. For example hold out an apple and tell him what it is and say "A is for Apple, Ah,Ah, Apple." Also don't goo goo gaa gaa talk to your baby. Just talk normal to it. The sooner you treat him like a human adult the better. I think it delays kids to talk baby talk to them. Other than that just follow your gut instinct.

Most of the people here are correct. Just use common sense. I'm a single dad to an infant girl and I think I'm doing alright. I look up facts about when they should start sleeping through the night, when teething begins, when they will roll over, etc. As for raising them; feed them, burp them, change them, bathe them, hold them, interact with them and love em. That's as far as I've gotten for the moment. I expect things will only get more difficult and more rewarding as she grows though. Just do your best and be a good teammate to your spouse.

I found Meditations by Marcus Aurileous (sp) to be really good. Sure some of it is high minded philosophy but there is a lot of down to earth advice including about raising kids and managing a house in there if you actually read (or pay ATTN to audiobook) . I listened to it while I rebuilt my first house and which made the whole experience one of the best feelings of accomplishment in my life.
