I was looking at Keto or Paleo. Any good diet ideas? I want to increase muscle and become leaner. I know Keto can stop a host of diseases too, but would love to know more

If you want to achieve a nice swimmer body with lean, defined muscles and nice abs, go with keto and fast for one day every week. You can do 16 hours, 24 hours, or 32 hours if you like, just check with a doctor first to make sure you’re healthy enough to do so.

Keep in mind that ketosis basically means your body is eating itself, in the form of excess fat being burned and used as fuel. If you’re already skinny, you risk eating your own muscles, up to and including your heart muscles (not good!).

So anyway, if you’re happy looking lean and refined, do keto and combine that with calisthenics.

If you want to look like the hulk, you’ll actually need to eat more and lift progressively heavier weights. I can’t give you much advice there since I prefer looking lean to eating a shit ton of calories every day.

Bonus bit: fasting gets easier and easier the more you do it. You may have trouble sleeping at first, but that goes away eventually. As for hunger pangs, just drink water and they go away within the hour.

Coolest thing I learned from fasting is that it completely resets your cravings. I used to be addicted to sweets, but now I have no interest.

Consult with a doctor/dietitian before making radical changes to your diet and exercise plans.

Most doctors can go suck a big fat cock. They are fucking cowards who have been bought off by health insurance and pharma. When I got super sick recently docs at the hospital and my reg doc almost killed me. I had to pay out of pocket for a doc who wasn't bought off and guess what I'm better now than I have been in a long time.

Bottom line, fuck mainstream western medicine. Sure there is no safer place to have a heart attack or get in a car crash they will save you but for taking care of your health they are more deadly than almost anything in the U.S. (statistically true docs are more likely to kill you than many things youre much more afraid of.

I’m lucky enough to have not had that issue, but I can tell you this: you’re absolutely right about how corrupt western medicine is.

There are many reasons why that’s the case, but I suspect one of the top reasons is that people are going into medicine for the wrong reasons: money is more important to them than lives.

Haha sorry i got so aggressive right away really touched a nerve. Totally agree our system is sooo bad. I have done things that have helped a ton and none of my regular doctors would condone it, they wanted to put me on meds like cortico steroids and shit which almost killed me (palpitations apparently my body hates that shit)

Take care dude. I wonder if there is like a health optimization sub on voat?

most doctors dont get any training in health.. its all prescribe pills.

Bullshit. There are two kinds of hunger. One kind when you're well fed and it's time for a meal. Another kind when you're starving. When you're deeply hungry you're aware of it at all times regardless of how hydrated you are. quod experience.

[–] 0 pt

For sure, but why would you be starving if you eat every single day of the week and only fast for like 16 hours?

Context, my dude, context...

quick tip. if the box of food says KETO FREINDY or KETO.. 100% it is not really keto.

I went from 210 to 180 while my bench is back up to 275 and I can run a couple miles pretty easy.

One meal a day at the end of the day. Usually a poke bowl raw meat if possible. Some yogurt a salad and an avocado. But I mix it up main thing is one meal end of the day healthy meal.

I lift 3 times a week mon wed friday.

Keto then intermittent fasting. Keto will drop the pounds quick, but once it slows down it’s easy to get discouraged. Just stay on it and you will keep the pounds off. It’s a lifetime decision, not temporary.

Dr Jason Fung who’s a nephrologist is a big proponent of fasting to treat his diabetic patients. It’s hard to fast at first. Juicing puts the foot in the door. It gives you your daily intake of the super nutrients provided by fruits and vegetables. This takes the edge off when you fast. Give it a three day detox followed by a one week juice only fast. At my age it went pretty fast. Expect misery through the detox. Take plenty of showers and you might as well stay in bed. Juice when you feel like you're hungry. You will probably have to adjust intake depending on your individual needs. Most importantly inform your healthcare provider to assist. If they won’t then find someone who will. At first I was juicing 3 times a day. Earlier the next day. Kinda stepped it up some. Found out what I liked or hated. Combining different stuff. Kinda like cold cooking. I wouldn't say it was fun but really easily tolerable. Towards the end of the 10 days I was naturally deceasing the times to two per day. I was also shrinking my window until it was a four hour window. After the 10 days is over the second juice was replaced with a low carb, high protein meal that I ate only to satiation. It’s been 20 days and I’ve dropped 24 lbs. My longest fast was 38 hours. I now find it easy to fast for 20 hours. I started this because of my insulin resistance.

I never understood how juicing could be that healthy, I know it's packed with vitamins but it's also a ton of sugar, even if it's not the bad kind.

its healthy only because they dont eat a burger fries and shake.. so eating a jiuce in the short term works. same a going Vegan. they feel great the first year and lose weight . then they start being sick and tired.

I've never tried it myself but fasting is supposed to remove all toxins and basically reset your body. I don't think there is any way to truly eat healthy these days everything is processed, full of hormones, ect, ect.

Any diet with word "detox" is probably bullshit.

That is true, even apples arent safe with their small coating on top, forget what its called. However, I do want to work my way to a six pack of some sort, so i have the working out and the fasting down, but not sure which diet to use

I remember reading about the main actor in 300, his diet. It was mostly grilled chicken as far as I remember maybe look that up. I don't have the time or funds to work out full time, my best advice is if you're healthy and fit be happy normal people don't use steroids.

[–] 0 pt

Amazing If true. Getting enough calories to bulk up off of almost pure protein like chicken is hard as hell. I eat a lot of meat but it's much easier to get a lot of calories from healthy fats.

[–] 0 pt

Dont count carbs. its a bullshit thing to do. just no sugar no grain

Keto is very hard to commit to.

Since most (on Voat at least) shit on a plant-based diet I will actually put in a good word for it.

When eating mostly plant-based, which I make some mostly failed effort to do, I notice my digestion is cleaner and I don’t tend to crash or feel very lethargic for a long time.

If you get enough protein and work out you can still gain muscle and have a great body. There are vegan body builders. This guy (files.catbox.moe) eats vegan except for honey.

Just work out your macronutrients. There are plenty of calculators online so you don't have to plug in the formula yourself. Then just make sure you don't go over your macro limits.
